A Tribute Film weaves together cherished photos, video clips, and meaningful music to celebrate the life and legacy of your loved one. Our bespoke service ensures that every Tribute Film is thoughtfully crafted with care and sensitivity, allowing you to focus on what truly matters..
A tribute film is a short film that can be played during a funeral service or at a wake or at any other event celebrating a loved one. They can be played out with music or they can be shown on a continuous loop on televisions or screens at a venue, shared on social platforms, or just kept for your own use. The video usually consists of a simple title followed by a selection of photographs accompanied by music. You can find a sample video further up this page.
Gather and select your photos - The first step is to gather all the photos and video clips you want to include in the tribute video. Start by looking through old photo albums, as well as digital collections on phones, computers, or cloud storage. Don’t forget to reach out to family and friends who might have treasured images to share. Once you’ve collected all the content, narrow it down to the photographs that best capture the memories you want to highlight. We recommend up to 45 but if you’d like to include more, just let us know. If you’d like the photos to appear in a specific order, number them in the file name. While we often find that presenting images in a random, non-chronological order works well, please let us know if there are any specific images you’d like to start or end with.
Music - you can choose to have a silent tribute film but many people opt to include music. It can be a vital part of a tribute video, setting the tone and evoking memories. We will use our years of experience to select an accompanying tune from an extensive music library that will bring your film to life.
Provide us with the text for the title screen - let us know any text you would like to use for the title screen - e.g. 'In loving memory of George Young'
Upload your photos - We will email you a private and secure link via which you can upload your images.
We will then edit your tribute film - upon completion (2-3 working days unless specified otherwise) we will send you a private and secure link from which you can pay for and download the finished film.
Things to check
Check that your images are of a suitable resolution and format (have a look at the specifications further down this FAQ list).
If you want the images shown in a certain order please number them in the file name - e.g. 01.jpg, 02.jpg etc...
Once the film is completed we will provide you with a secure link to download a HD video file ready to show at the funeral or wake. We use the common 'mp4' format which will play on a variety of devices and platforms. If you wish we can also provide the file on a USB stick. Your chosen venue will be able to help you show the film on their screens.
Unlike other services, the finished film and video file belongs to you - a touching keepsake that you can choose to copy and distribute to family and friends as you see fit.
Of course. Some families often want to provide more photographs for a longer film, or they may wish to display messages or memories or even video clips amongst the photographs. We are more than happy to tailor the film to suit your wishes - please don't be shy to ask.
Image Quality Matters - To ensure the best possible tribute video, it's important to provide high-quality images. While we’ll do our best to work with all the photos you submit, low-resolution or blurry images may not display well in the final video. For the best results, please try to provide clear, high-resolution photos wherever possible. If, when we receive your images, any photos look like they are too small or otherwise damaged (to blurry or pixelated) we will get in touch with you to discuss. You may want to replace them with alternative images or rescan any problem images.
If you’re unsure about the quality of an image, feel free to ask—we’re happy to help!
Format - we can work with most popular image formats - jpg, jpeg, png, tif etc... Occasionally some older or obscure formats may cause us some problems, if so we will get back in touch.
Resolution - Our videos are delivered as high quality HD video files (1920x1080 pixels). That is the standard format across the majority of screens and displays. As such any images selected should generally be 1080 pixels or higher on the shortest dimension (width or height).
Portrait or Landscape - Photos come in various shapes and sizes—square, portrait (tall), or landscape (wide)—and we can work with all of them. Depending on the image's size and shape, as well as to ensure all subjects are visible, we may display the full photo with black borders on the sides or scale it up to better highlight the subject. We handle these editing decisions with care, but if you notice any issues, such as Auntie Jean being accidentally cropped out, let us know—we’ll happily make adjustments and provide an updated version
What order will the photos display in - By default, we will arrange the images in a random, non-chronological order selected by our editor—a style we’ve found works beautifully. However, if you’d prefer the images to appear in a specific order, simply number the file names (e.g., 01.jpg, 02.jpg, etc.). Typically you will want a strong start and end image - one that really shows the true character of your loved one. The final image is very important and we allow that photograph some more time on screen before it fades out.
Video files - If you’d like to include up to three video clips (as offered in Option 2 of our packages), we can work with most major video formats. Older clips may sometimes have a lower resolution, but we’ll apply gentle upscaling to enhance their quality. Using our expertise, we’ll carefully balance the adjustments to ensure your video clips are displayed at their best possible quality.
We Understand the Value of Your Memories - Every photograph you share with us holds deep emotional significance. These treasured memories often come in the form of old, grainy, or low-resolution images. We believe that every picture tells a story, and our mission is to bring those stories to life with clarity and vibrancy. Using advanced techniques, we can enhance poor-quality images, addressing issues like graininess, soft focus, and low resolution. We apply sharpening, noise reduction, and resolution upscaling to transform your photos into remarkably crisp and vibrant versions of themselves.
For images that require more extensive enhancement—such as repairing significant damage, blurriness, correcting heavy graininess, or transforming very low-resolution images—we’re happy to help! However, as these advanced edits take additional time and expertise, they may incur a small extra fee.
We’ll always review your images and discuss any additional work before proceeding, so you can decide what’s best for your Tribute Film.
